The first edition of the Brazilian music festival "Brazil Calling" addresses Brazilian music in the years of dictatorship and its impact on cultural production in the fifth largest country in the world.

Das brasilianische Musikfestival "Brazil Calling“ thematisiert in seiner ersten Ausgabe die brasilianische Musik in den Jahren der Diktatur und ihre Auswirkungen auf die kulturelle Produktion des fünftgrößten Landes der Welt.

Zu den großen Attraktionen des Festivals zählen Musiker wie Antonio Villeroy, Sänger und Songwriter großer Hits der brasilianischen Musikszene. Der preisgekrönte Gitarrist Mazin Silva. Die in Europa sehr erfolgreiche Sängerin Nice Brazil, mit ihrem Mix aus MPB und Jazz. Der Musiker, Komponist und Showman Fernando Paiva mit seinem brasilianischen Weltjazz. Und die einziggartige, charismatische Daniela Procopio mit ihrer Solo-Stimme und der virtuose preisgekrönte Guitarrist Luis Leite.

Der besondere Reiz des Musikfestivals liegt in der Rolle der Musik in Zeiten der Unterdrückung. Denn in den Jahren der Diktatur war die brasilianische Bevölkerung ihrer politischen Stimme und Beteiligung weitestgehend beraubt. Eine Generation entfremdeter und unpolitischer Wesen wurde geschaffen.
Musik war die einzige Möglichkeit, offen vor Anderen über Dinge zu sprechen, die in Zeiten der Unterdrückung nicht zum Ausdruck gebracht werden durften. So entwickelte sich in Brasilien eine Generation von Musikern mit der Fähigkeit, ihre Musik als Ausdrucksmittel und Sprachrohr für versteckte Botschaften zu nutzen.

Im Gegensatz zu Europa wird in Brasilien auch heute noch die Teilnahme an Demonstrationen und einem öffentlichen politischen Leben als Akt der Unruhestiftung angesehen.

Das Brasil Calling Festival ist eine offene Plattform der Begegnung und der Versuch, die Flamme des freien Gedankens und seines Widerstandes durch die Seele der brasilianischen Musik zu stärken.

O Festival de Música Brasileira Brazil Calling fará uma reflexão e apresentação de shows que repercutem a música brasileira nos anos de chumbo da ditadura brasileira(1964-1985) e seu forte impacto na produção cultural do quinto país do Mundo.

Algumas das principais atrações do festival incluem músicos como Antonio Villeroy, cantor e compositor de grandes sucessos do cenário musical brasileiro e músicas de filmes internacionais; o guitarrista e virtuose Mazin Silva, premiado no E- Festival Samsung 2018, Brasil; a cantora com extensa carreira na Europa, Nice Brazil, com seu inconfundível mix de MPB e jazz; o músico, compositor e show man Fernando Paiva com seu Brazilian World Jazz e a única e carismática Daniela Procopio com sua voz sensacional e o talentoso violonista Luiz Leite vencedor do XI Premio BDMG Instrumental em Belo Horizonte, Brasil.

A temática principal do Festival Brazil Calling é o papel da MPB em tempos de opressão. Os anos da ditadura subtraem parte da população, que foi em grande parte privada de sua voz política e participação, criando uma geração de seres apolíticos e distantes da realidade que ocorria nas dependências dos órgãos de repressão. A censura foi imposta e a a música era a única maneira de falar abertamente sobre coisas que não podiam de outra forma serem expressas em tempos de opressão. No Brasil, por exemplo, uma geração de músicos emergiu com a capacidade de usar sua música como meio de expressão, valendo-se de mensagens ocultas e transversais para transmitir suas ideias.

Em contraste com a Europa, a participação em manifestações e na vida política política no Brasil ainda hoje é considerada, pelas camadas mais conservadoras e alienadas da sociedade, coisa de indivíduos desocupados, baderneiros e não como deveria ser, um ato de exercício da democracia.

O Brazil Calling Festival é uma plataforma aberta de encontro e uma tentativa de fortalecer a chama do pensamento livre e sua resistência através da alma da música brasileira.
